Grid + Glam Founder and CEO, Corine Morahan, on Empowering Women to Create and Maintain and Organized Home

Feature-Graphics

Hello Corrine! Please share a brief introduction about yourself and your business:

I am the Founder and CEO of Grid + Glam, a thriving organizing and media company designed to give busy women back their beautiful spaces and the breathing room they deserve. In addition to providing in-home organizing services, Grid + Glam offers the G+G Home Organizing Membership, a virtual platform that gives families a step-by-step process for creating and maintaining an organized home. I earned a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan and a Master’s degree from Harvard University. I began my career working on Wall Street and currently live just outside Boston, MA with my husband and two children.

So Corrine, what excites you about being an Entreprenista League member?

It is so motivating to be in community with such incredible and inspiring women! The depth and breadth of knowledge within the League that I can leverage will have a massive impact on my business.

What made you take the leap to start Grid + Glam?

I was staring my 40th birthday in the face and decided it was now or never! I knew I could make a massive impact on the world by showing women that when they declutter their homes, overly-busy schedules, and negative thought patterns that they can live a life of passion and joy.

Have you always been involved in providing in-home organizational services? What was your background prior to starting your own business?

I worked on Wall Street at the start of my career. I subsequently got a Master’s in Education and worked in the non-profit sector in the arena of access to higher education for underserved students. I transitioned back into the world of finance before ultimately starting my business.

So Corrine, did you always know you wanted to be an entrepreneur?

No! Ha! I actually always loved working for other people … until I didn’t. I think my 15 years of a more traditional career path has allowed me to have rapid success in my own business.

Along with launching a new biz, you have to spread the word! Take us back to when you first launched your business, what was your initial marketing strategy?

I did not have any social media presence, so I challenged myself to go live every day for the month of January to get the word out. I did it and it worked! There was so much buzz about the business that I got my first few in-person clients and also created the basis for what would later become my digital membership platform.

The entrperenista experience can be a rollercoaster ride. What is the biggest challenge you have encountered along the way so far, and what did you learn from it?

The biggest challenge has been learning how to navigate clients that were not thrilled with my offerings. It is an extremely humbling experience, but teaches me one of the most important business lessons: being a great CEO is not about doing everything perfectly, but it is about how effectively, strategically and gracefully you are able to handle the mistakes you make.

Corrine, you have lots to celebrate! What is the accomplishment you are the most proud of to date?

Running three robust business lines simultaneously: 1. our in-person business, 2. our digital platform to help women get organized, and 3. our business coaching programs for other Professional Organizers.

What are your beliefs around work life balance? Is it achievable, or is it just something we all dream about?

I love to work, but I believe that we can create our own ideal reality. Mine includes time every day for my husband and two kids, weekly self-care appointments, and empty space to do nothing. My best tip? Get organized! You’ll save yourself so much time and frustration and give yourself that freedom to create your own balance.

What’s a piece of advice you can share that you wish you’d known when you first started your Entreprenista journey?

You will make mistakes. And you are strong enough to survive them. The sooner you embrace taking imperfect action, the faster you can move in your business.

Corrine, you have lots of exciting developments. What have you achieved recently that you’d like to celebrate with our community?

I recently hired a Head of Organizing so I can take another step back from the business to focus on strategy and doing keynote speaking.

What’s next for your business? What can we expect to see over the next few years?

More speaking events, more robust coaching programs for female entrepreneurs, and more improved ways to help you streamline your life.
