Ashley Reckdenwald, Founder of Working Mom Notes, on her mission as a Mamaprenista
Describe your business in a few words:
I am the Founder of Working Mom Notes. My mission is to empower mothers through community and experience, enabling all to prosper in both career and motherhood. I believe in moderating difficult conversations to help women feel seen and heard.
What was your background prior to starting your own business?
Orthopedic Physician Assistant
Did you always know you wanted to be an entrepreneur?
I have always been creative and had lots of ideas, but I never anticipated feeling a desire to execute them like I do now.
Take us back to when you first launched your business, what was your marketing strategy to get the word out, and did it go as planned?
I used my Instagram page as market research with the goal of converting 1% of my followers to my membership-based platform. I was not consistent enough in the delivering of my marketing materials, so I fell short of my conversion goal.
What is the accomplishment you are the most proud of to date?
Talking to Barbara Corcoran about working moms and career transitions on The Rachael Ray Show.
Do you believe in work/life balance? What are some of your best tips?
To some extent – I believe that there of peaks and troughs and the balance doesn’t always balance out day to day, but the goal should be whatever works for your lifestyle. Maybe for some that is day to day, but for others it’s week to week and even some it’s month to month. To put everyone is a box telling women that if they’re not doing it *this way* then they’re not achieving proper work/life balance is setting so many up for failure. It has to be an individual decision based on career and family life. And the beauty is, those seasons can be fluid and constantly changing.
What have you achieved recently that you’d like to celebrate with our community?
The ability to stop giving an F about what everyone else thinks about me short of the people I value and respect.
What’s next for your business? What can we expect to see over the next few years?
More streamlined content from more career motherhood categories.
What excites you about being an Entreprenista League member?
Talking to other entrepreneurs and connecting with likeminded women!
