Angie Ojeda of Roam.Red® on her efforts to connect travelers across the world

Describe your business in a few words:

I am Angie, Founder of a worldwide social platform that connects people to travel together.  I am an Entrepreneur for several businesses. Founder & CEO for Roam.Red®, a social platform that connects travelers, nomads, and explorers to make travel plans together. I am also the Founder of Safire Events, LLC, an international event management company.  I am the CEO for Angie Ojeda Enterprises, my own freelance platform offering professional services for hire. My heart is set on traveling, and I knew I wanted to focus more on Roam Red, because not only was this my niche, but I knew I had a scalable idea that would grow internationally.

What was your background prior to starting your own business?

Prior to becoming an Entrepreneur, I was working in healthcare clinics. Mainly, because I love helping people. Although I haven’t stepped foot in a clinic as an employee, I still work closely within the healthcare environment reaching out to people in need. I continue to thrive in giving back in my community and church.

Did you always know you wanted to be an entrepreneur?

I did. I am glad I took the leap into Entrepreneurship.

Take us back to when you first launched your business, what was your marketing strategy to get the word out and did it go as planned?

My first step in my marketing strategy was to first engage myself with useful resources. I know knowledge is power, so I read many books, attended webinars, listened to podcasts, received certifications in digital media & marketing, attended networking events, and met with other Entrepreneurs. Once I was aware of the best strategy for the company, I prioritized a plan of action and structure with the platforms that would help Roam Red gain the most audience. We started with Instagram and Facebook and we are growing daily.  Surely, we will expand to other platforms as needed.

What is the accomplishment you are the most proud of to date?

Being a Latina in the tech industry and startup world are all things I am proud of. I am most proud of the courage and tenacity that has brought me to this point, and because of that, I know these won’t be my only successful endeavors. As Walt Disney once said, “All our dreams can come true if we have the courage to pursue them.”

Do you believe in work/life balance? What are some of your best tips?

It is very important to have a healthy work and life balance. To achieve this and make the most out of your time, I would suggest making a list and prioritizing things daily. Being an Entrepreneur is very time-consuming, but you need your mind, body, and soul to be refreshed daily to be ready to be productive.  Eat healthy, exercise, rest, and take a mini-vacation. Trust me, the work will be there when you get back, so if you take care of yourself, then you will be able to take care of things needed for your business.

What have you achieved recently that you’d like to celebrate with our community?

I think every day gets better and better!  I think I have come a long way with Roam Red and it continues to grow. Start-ups are not easy, especially being a Female Latina in the Tech community. Aside from this business, I have more I am working on. So stay tuned.

What’s next for your business? What can we expect to see over the next few years?

I want all our members to know, all the time spent researching the market, staying abreast of competitors, and prioritizing the needs of this company was ultimately for them. The challenges were all worth it because I knew what Roam Red has to offer: a valuable and memorable experience meeting like-minded people, making new friends, and rendezvousing with familiar faces. Traveling has never been more stress-free. It’s an investment in your network and growth, with all traveling plans streamlined in one place. With this being said, we plan to be the next big company to connect people to travel together and safely.
